Morning Devotion Reflections
Day 1: The Question That Finds Us — Gen 3:9
Scripture of the Day: “But the Lord God called to the man, ‘Where are you?’”
Reflection: This question marks the first divine response to human sin. It is not an inquiry born of ignorance but an invitation into awareness. When Adam fell, he did not run toward God—he hid. Yet God came looking. This is the pattern of grace: God initiates before man responds.
“Where are you?” is not about geography; it is about condition. Adam was no longer where he was meant to be—secure in fellowship, unashamed, and aligned with God’s will. Sin had relocated him. He was now hidden, fearful, and disoriented.
This question exposes a fundamental reality: sin always displaces. It moves us from truth to deception, from openness to concealment, from intimacy to distance. Yet God’s first movement toward fallen man is not destruction but dialogue. He calls out.
This means that even in our failure, God’s posture toward us is not immediate rejection but redemptive pursuit. The question itself is grace. It gives Adam an opportunity to step out of hiding and into truth.
Today, this question still stands. It cuts through noise, ministry activity, and outward appearances. It is deeply personal. God is not asking for your location on a map; He is asking for your location in relation to Him.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for seeking me even when I hide. Give me the courage to answer You truthfully. Bring me into awareness of my true condition before You.
Action Point: Take 10 minutes in silence and ask yourself honestly: Where am I in my walk with God right now? Write it down without filtering.
